Most of the players on TC like PVE more than PVP, however some battleground, arena or city raid events could be also pleasurable.
It doesn't mean that you don't play or raid together anymore if you get beaten or kill your friend, you just have the possibility experience another feature of the game.

I'm not sure if the arenas are working properly, but I do know that party against party is working and you can have players from both factions in each party.
